Pucker Up

The story behind the page:

This picture was just blind luck. One of those shots that just falls in your lap. I wanted to do something simple with it so that the main focus would be on the photo. So I decided to use it for this week's color challenge. The greens worked pretty well with the black and white (or so I thought). The paper was something I threw together. I'm getting better at that. Maybe my days of total reliance on kits is nearing an end.

Dare's Big Day (page 2)

The story behind the page:

Friday we went to Virginia to go to a mall, supposedly to buy shirts for Mikey, but he changed his mind and decided to order some from online. So I guess the entire reason for the trip at that point was to buy Trev and Elijah some sandals and eat at the Rainforest Cafe. I don't know why we always have to go there. The food isn't the best and it scares the kids, but whatever.

So after we got home, the kids and I met up with my friend Joey for a trip to one of those little fairs they set up in mall parking lots. I'm not really sure why it is that they choose to utilize such small spaces, but for whatever reason, that's where they are usually found. I am spoiled. I'll admit it. I lived in the home town of the Kansas state fair. And if you've ever been in the Midwest you know that we take our livestock judging seriously and the size of our fairs reflect that.

But despite my own misgivings, the boys had a fabulous time. Dare especially surprised me. The last time he got anywhere near rides (at a weird little place in a mall called Jeepers) he wanted nothing to do with them. But on this day he couldn't get enough. In fact, he was so far from scared that the biggest issue with him was getting him to actually leave the ride area and not try to climb back on for a second go at it. So I thought I'd do a layout to mark the fun he had. Not that Elijah and Trev didn't have a blast too, but I think the award for most enthusiastic probably goes to Dare hands down.

Dare's Big Day

The story behind the page:

This was my take on a magazine ad we had for our inspiration the other day. I actually really like the way this turned out and I'd say it's one of my all time favorite layouts. I'm going to go ahead and post the second page for a more detailed look at the images and journaling there.

Make a Wish

The story behind the page:

Mikey let me get a new camera the other day and the first thing I did as soon as the battery was charged up was to take a walk with Elijah and take as many photos as humanly possible. I took pictures of weeds, trees, mud puddles, golfers, and even a porta potty. So I had plenty of potential for this layout. This is what I came up with. I've since made some changes to it (namely the bit of picture that is peeking out from behind one of the polaroid frames.
